I have years of experience using the parish sacramental records of Spain, as well as those of Italy and England. Parish records are the backbone of genealogical research in Europe in the centuries before civil registration began. I am available to travel throughout Spain on my clients’ behalf and in most cases the records that I have worked with have been the originals, not microfilms or transcripts. I have also been successful in finding wills, depositions and other notarial records held at civil archives. Perhaps most importantly I feel that I am well prepared to accurately assess the document requirements of a project – to answer the question “Which records in which repositories may contain the information needed by this client?”

Experience is about more than time, and geography. I find relatively little professional merit in simply transcribing records of families already prominent enough 200 years ago to possess compiled family trees. I’m proud to have built family trees that take in every segment of Spanish society, from illiterate laborers in isolated villages to grandees of the realm, from Crypto-Jews in trouble with the Inquisition to medieval royalty, and dealt with the challenges each group presents.
