Archivo Histórico Eclesiástico de Bizkaia
This archive, located on one of the upper floors of the building shown here, holds the parish records for the diocese of Bizkaia, or Vizcaya or Biscay. They also have one of the most impressive databases of any archive pertinent to family history anywhere, so it pays to do one’s homework before visiting! Searching text databases can only get one so far - eventually, two or more potential ancestors will share the same name, and it will be necessary to consult the original records and rule them each in or out.
