Fees and Payment

Every genealogical research project is different and given the disparity in effort required to advance in each one, such projects don't fit very well into a flat-rate structure. A broad family research effort may include several of the services listed below. These prices provide orientation as to my hourly rates for research services: please contact me to discuss specific projects and obtain a firm quote.

Research Packages
BASIC SURNAME HISTORY: I receive many requests for this sort of research, of interest to the genealogical novice or as a gift. This package is for basic research to determine where the name is known to have first appeared, what it derives from, and whether any coats of arms are associated with persons bearing this surname. Historical figures and members of the nobility who have borne this name will also be noted.79,00
This price covers three hours of research in published sources, and sending of the report through e-mail.

Focused Lineage Searches
The search for ancestors of a given individual in the town or city specified by the client. Five hour minimum. Includes archival research, indexes, baptismal records, visits to cemeteries... whatever is necessary to make progress.First five hours at each archive:

Subsequent time: 36,00 per hour
Travel & Lodging (if necessary):Actual cost, per quote. Receipts will be provided upon prior request.
I do not charge for time spent travelling, only the actual time spent researching at the destination.
PAYMENT
All costs for the research agreed are payable in advance. I happily accept PayPal for online payments, and also personal cheques or postal money orders, as well as bank wire transfers (provided these do not result in extra bank fees). Unused research funds will be held as a credit towards future research projects for the client.
